Feasting, Free Tastings And All-Day Entertainment!
May 03, 2019
Fratelli Fresh’s flagship food and dining emporium at Darling Harbour has the green, white and red balloons ready for its 1st birthday celebrations on Saturday, 25 May when it will host a family-friendly day of free tastings, feasting, entertainment and live music.
Coffee connoisseurs and cheese aficionados can indulge in tasting sessions with coffee legend Lavazza and Marrickville-based cheesemaker Vannella. Other premium producers coming to the party include Ross Hill Wine, with winemaker James Robson taking guests through a selection of cool-climate, Orange region wines, and cult aperitivo maker Campari, which will toast the celebrations with Aperol spritz and Negroni tastings at Fratelli’s fabulous Campari bar.
The centrepiece of the celebration is a Long Table Series lunch ($99pp) of four, shared courses, including assorted crostini to start; entrees of culurgiones, or potato dumplings, with mint and pecorino in burnt butter, and sage and casarecce pasta with pesto alla trapanese; main dishes of Sicilian mussels with garlic, fennel, cherry tomatoes and white wine, and porchetta and lemon-roasted chicken; and panna cotta with strawberries and mint for dessert. Unlimited Ross Hill Wines,
4 Pines beers, espresso martinis and Aperol spritz are included in the price. The celebratory feast will be served to the backdrop of a live Italian acoustic band. Bookings can be made here.
Alternatively, guests can choose from Fratelli’s all-day menu of antipasti, pizza, pasta and main-course favourites, as well as vibrant build-your-own-salads and indulgent house-made treats from the dessert bar.
Families can take advantage of the daily kids-eat-free menu at all Fratelli Fresh restaurants, which enables one child under the age of 12 to eat for free from the kids’ menu with a paying adult.
Captain America and Superman have already RSVPed for the birthday celebrations and will be on site in the afternoon with free entertainment for the children. Word is they have used their superhero powers to arrange a $1 gelato hour, when a rainbow of 15 flavours of house-made deliciousness will be available.
Pizza enthusiasts can roll up their sleeves for a one-hour masterclass ($25pp), with only 20 spots available for a pizza the action. Bookings can be made here.
Late-afternoon live music will help guests ease into Sydney’s best-value happy hour, with apéritivo drinks and antipasti plates ranging from $3 to $6.
The birthday celebrations coincide with the launch weekend of the Vivid light spectacular, making Fratelli Fresh Darling Harbour the perfect place to feast before enjoying interactive space-age installations and illuminations around Cockle Bay, Tumbalong Park and Darling Quarter and other sparkle points around the city.
