Australian Venue Co Acquires Hotham Hotel, Vic

Australian Venue Co Acquires Hotham Hotel, Vic

Australian Venue Co. has acquired the lease of the Hotham Hotel, previously known as Swindlers Bar, on Mount Hotham in a logical expansion into one of Victoria’s domestic tourism hubs.

The Hotham Hotel offers skiers on the mountain a place to relax for breakfast, lunch and after a big day on the slopes. The menu offers pub classics including Chicken Parma, Beef Burger and Steak Sandwich, as well as dishes including Japanese Karage Chicken Burger, Red Snapper Tacos and Steamed Vegetable Dumplings. There’s also a daily happy hour.

Regular live music nights entertain guests and the weekly Wednesday darts is enjoyed by 42 local teams.

The main food and beverage venue on the ski field, the pub is the heartbeat of Hotham.

The food and beverage-led hospitality group is looking forward to working with the local team and to being a part of the next chapter of the venue, especially as there is more emphasis on domestic tourism than ever.

Paul Waterson, Australian Venue Co CEO, said the Hotham Hotel is a welcome addition to the group’s Victorian portfolio.

This is the second investment in regional Victoria in two months by Australian Venue Co.  “We are very interested in assets that have a strong exposure to domestic tourism and proud to be able to take over the operations of such an important venue on the Mount Hotham ski fields.”

“Victoria is a significant market for Australian Venue Co and while the majority of our venues are currently in metro areas, we will continue to invest in tourist-friendly locations outside the CBD in addition to our metro pubs, they are the logical progression as we grow. We are really looking forward to working with the Hotham Hotel team.”

AVC prides itself on its portfolio of more than 170 unique and individual venues across Australia and New Zealand. The group’s approach is to encourage local leadership and to tailor venues to local community tastes, supported by the group’s centralised support office, including HR, finance and marketing.
