Seven days until the ultimate Tex-Mex touchdown on the Gold Coast

Jul 15, 2020

Seven days until the ultimate Tex-Mex touchdown on the Gold Coast

The countdown has begun. There are just seven days to go until Tex-Mex wild child El Camino Cantina debuts at Robina on the Gold Coast on Wednesday, 22 July at 4pm.

That’s seven days until Gold Coast locals and visitors can embrace the ultimate El Camino Cantina experience from the Tex-Mex diner’s new digs on The Promenade waterfront dining strip at Robina Town Centre shopping precinct. To help fans tap into their inner Tex-Mex, here are seven things to look forward to.

  1. Wing Wednesday: El Camino Cantina’s sauced up buffalo wings are 10-cents each, every Wing Wednesday (with a drink purchase), which coincidentally happens to be launch day.
  2. Complimentary chips and salsas: Baskets of tortilla chips and house-made salsas are free, AND refillable, so diners can chip away at their hunger before the heavy lifting begins.
  3. Free sombreros: You can’t Tex-Mex without wearing a sombrero. Festive and colourful they’re the perfect selfie accessory.
  4. Famous margaritas: From Sydney, to Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast, these sweet-sour margaritas have their own cult following. They’re served frozen and on the rocks, and in classic, mango, strawberry and tropical flavours. For a top-shelf version order a Cadillac margarita, which has a smooth, rich float of Grand Marnier on top.
  5. Limited-edition Margarita of the Month: Every month sees the launch of a limited-edition margarita. For July it’s The Firecracker, which is strawberry and lemonade flavoured, served Cadillac-style, in a chalice and garnished with blue Pop Rocks. Genius!
  6. Taco intoxication: The tortillas for these hand-held, street-style tacos are house-made and soft, with eight flavour-packed and fabulous fillings to choose from, including beer-battered barramundi, pork al pastor, beef brisket, and confit mushroom. Every Tuesday is Taco Tuesday with a selection of $2 and $4 ‘Cadillac’ tacos available all day.
  7. Chargrilled fajitas: test the flex of El Camino Cantina’s Tex-Mex muscle by the sizzle in its fajitas, which are brought piping hot to the table. There are two sizes (single and share-style) and four variations to choose from: confit mushroom, spiced adobo chicken, lime & pepper Angus beef, and a fabulous adobo chicken and Angus beef combo. They’re served with house-made tortillas and an authentic fresh salsa called pico de gallo, as well as all the typical Tex-Mex trimmings, including sour cream, cheese, black beans and Mexican rice.
