5 Pro Tips to Get Ahead in Hospitality in 2024

A report by Frollo found that Australians are spending more on hospitality experiences, with Gen X showing the most significant increase (over 46%) in spending compared to previous years. 2023 brought its share of obstacles for the Australian hospitality industry but this year continues to show signs of renewed optimism. Whether you're a seasoned pro or just starting, here are 5 pro tips to get ahead in Australian hospitality this year:

1. Master the Fundamentals & Upskill Regularly:

Regardless of your background, constant training will be your secret ingredient to success. As of writing, here are our upcoming training courses:

2. Hone Your Soft Skills:

This highlights the growing importance of exceptional customer service to keep patrons coming back. Technical skills are essential, but don't underestimate the power of soft skills. Being a team player, providing excellent customer service, and possessing strong communication skills are highly sought after by employers.

3. Embrace Technology:

The Australian hospitality industry is rapidly embracing technology. Familarise yourself with digital ordering systems, point-of-sale systems, and online reservation platforms. Many Barcats training providers integrate these technologies into their courses, ensuring you graduate with the tech-savvy skills employers are looking for.
