Fast Food Industry Award

Nov 29, 2021

Fast Food Industry Award

The Fast Food Industry Award is the common award for this industry. Use our interactive tool to find out about your workplace entitlements and obligations under this award.

The minimum rates for a level 1 employee under the Fast Food Award are:

  •  $27.91 per hour (includes casual loading) for a casual adult
  •  $22.33 per hour for a full-time or part-time adult.

Different rates apply for higher classifications and there are higher rates for working at night, on the weekend and on public holidays.
Different rates also apply to juniors under this award.
Remember if you work 4 hours or more, you’re entitled to a 10-minute paid rest break. Check out the breaks for longer shifts, junior rates and other classifications in the award: https://www.fairwork.gov.au/.../fast.../fast-food-industry

If your workplace is covered by an agreement, your entitlements may be different. But remember, the base rate in the agreement can’t be less than the rate in the relevant award.

Not sure if the Fast Food Industry Award covers you? Minimum conditions at work can come from registered agreements, awards or legislation.
Refer to The Fair Work Ombudsman's Fast Food Award Summary to help determine if this award applies or check using the Find my award tool.
