JOB DESCRIPTION

The Transcontinental is an iconic pub in Brisbane CBD. committed to service excellence and building positive relationships with staff and patrons  

This is a  a fantastic opportunity for an apprentice chef who is wanting to develop knowledge in commercial cookery to join the innovative team! 

About the role: 

The successful candidate will work alongside qualified chefs assisting in all aspects of food preparation and presentation. This position provides the opportunity to learn and build experience in a commercial kitchen environment. Most importantly working as an apprentice chef will give you the skills and knowledge to become a successful chef in the future. 

  • You will work with large quantities of food and a variety of seasonal ingredients
  • Help prepare and cook dishes while training to be a qualified chef
  • Clean, maintain and store kitchen equipment appropriately
  • Under supervision, you will operate kitchen equipment such as mixers, choppers, fryers, steamers and learn different knife and cooking techniques.

RECOMMENDED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

Apprentice Chef

Please note: You should have a minimum up to 1 year previous experience in the above or similar roles.


REQUIREMENTS

The successful candidate will have:

  • demonstrate exceptional teamwork skills as well as good time management and attention to detail
  • Ideally 2nd year apprentice however willing to consider all levels.
  •  Previous experience in a commercial kitchen will be an advantage
  •  Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritise workload
  •  Look smart – wear your uniform with pride and adhere to personal grooming and hygiene standard
  •  Flexibility to work a 24/7 rotating roster – evenings, weekend and public holiday shifts are all part of the job
  •  Candidates must hold current Australian working rights suitable to the position to be considered.
