We're on the lookout for an exceptional Bar Manager to spearhead our dynamic team at Iris Rooftop Fortitude Valley.

Sat atop Hotel X in Fortitude Valley, Iris Rooftop Bar & Restaurant highlights a sweeping 360° panoramic view of Brisbane City, complimented by a luxury modern fit-out and cuisine to match.

Renowned as one of the most luxurious bars in Fortitude Valley, Iris specialises in Spanish tapas and is accompanied by an extensive bar menu highlighting the work of a collection of Brisbane’s best mixologists and sommeliers.

The Bar Manager is responsible for the overall management of the bar operations, ensuring efficient service, development of its beverage program, leading, training, and developing the team while assisting in the day-to-day runnings of the venue.

Key to your success will be your demonstrated experience in the following areas:

• Undertake normal bartender duties and supervise all bartenders, bar backs, and bar floor staff to provide excellent customer service.
• In conjunction with your Venue Manager, create effective rosters for bar operations and quickly resolve any staffing issues to ensure the bar is appropriately and effectively staffed. 
• Monitor and order alcoholic stock and appropriate glassware levels required for the bar in liaison with the Group Bar Manager.
• Develop and maintain the Bar and/or Restaurant cocktail lists and functions packages, with the approval from the Group Bar Manager and Venue Manager. 
• POS – ensure all products are up to date and entered with correct recipes, and enter invoices before COB of the same week purchased.
• Stocktake – to be done on Tuesdays and completed the first Tuesday of every month. Analysis and explanation regarding any variances outside of the acceptable margins. 
• Hire and train staff to provide excellent service to customers. Working with and training front-of-house team members on existing cocktails or food products, as well as selling techniques and any other necessary beverage training.
• In conjunction with your Venue Manager, keep up to date with Liquor Licensing and legislation changes, ensuring the bar team upholds RSA at all times.
• Ensuring all contractual obligations set by the Ghanem Group are upheld.
• Set and enforce quality and safety controls. 
• Develop and maintain appropriate work instructions and procedures to support optimal bar operations.
• Act as an escalation point for the handling of customer concerns/complaints.
• Ensure bar operations are integrated and complement the overall venue operations.
• Any additional duties within your capability as directed by the Group Bar Manager and Venue Manager..

Successful candidates will have at least 2 years of experience in a similar role and environment, coupled with the following skills and attributes:

• Demonstrated experience in the role of Bar Manager for a similar size venue
• Exceptional experience as a bartender.
• Superior communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to diffuse tense situations and resolve conflicts.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and lead a team.
• Understanding and experience adhering to health and safety standards and regulations.
