JOB DESCRIPTION

Nestled within the historic former Gowings department store and historic State Theatre, QT Sydney entwines the intrigue and excitement of the past with an edgy designer Hotel. Gowings Restaurant & Bar is a Sydney institution and we are looking for a new leader to steer the bar through an exciting rebirth. 

 

About the role

The Bar Manager is first and foremost the face of the business, they are the holder of key relationships and the architect of memorable guest experiences.

They are tasked with running and organising a large team within budget guidelines. They must oversee the day to day service operations of the business, ensuring the highest standard of food and beverage delivery coupled with exceptional service. 

The Bar Manager works closely with the Gowings Restaurant & Bar Manager, Head Chef, Food and Beverage Director, Group Wine Director and Culinary Director to meet food and beverage operational objectives. 

They will build and motivate a team of like minded professionals, with a diverse range of skills and backgrounds towards and unified goal of excellence. 

High level financial acumen is a must, be experienced in hitting wage, COGS and revenue targets to maximise profitability.

Skills and experience

  • Able to head a team with a hands on approach to problem solving.
  • Upbeat and positive attitude, ensuring high team spirit and morale.
  • Excellent communicator, with the ability to delegate tasks and follow up
  • Extensive experience running a high volume cocktail bar.
  • Encyclopedic knowledge of food and beverage
