JOB DESCRIPTION

Hop Garden, located within the prestigious View Hotel in Melbourne, is a dynamic and exciting bar offering a unique blend of craft beers, local and imported wines, a recognizable and inviting food menu, and a vibrant atmosphere.

We are dedicated to providing an outstanding experience for our guests and are looking for a passionate and experienced Bar Supervisor to lead our team.

Overview:

As the Bar Supervisor at Hop Garden, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the bar. You will be responsible for supervising and motivating a team of Food & Beverage staff, overseeing daily operations, and delivering exceptional customer service. Your leadership and organizational skills will be crucial in maintaining the high standards of our venue and creating a memorable experience for our guests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and motivate bar staff to deliver top-notch service and maintain high standards. Conduct regular team meetings and performance reviews.
  • Operational Excellence: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the bar, including opening and closing procedures, inventory management, and adherence to health and safety regulations.
  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service, handle guest inquiries and complaints with professionalism, and ensure a welcoming atmosphere for all patrons.
  • Drink Quality: Ensure the consistent quality and presentation of all beverages and food. Stay updated on industry trends and incorporate new drink offerings as appropriate.
  • Sales and Promotions: Implement and promote special events, seasonal drink menus, and marketing initiatives to drive sales and attract new customers.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor and control stock levels to ensure the availability of high-quality products while minimizing waste.
  • Financial Management: Assist in budgeting, monitor financial performance, and ensure that revenue and cost targets are met.
  • Compliance: Ensure all bar operations comply with relevant laws and regulations, including liquor licensing, health and safety standards, and company policies.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Bar Supervisor or in a similar supervisory role in a high-volume, upscale bar or restaurant environment.
  • Certification in Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA).
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused attitude.
  • In-depth knowledge of beverages, including cocktails, craft beers, and wine, along with industry trends.
  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations and resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Proficiency in inventory management and financial reporting.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

Further Qualifications:

  • Experience with bar management software and POS systems.
  • Knowledge of food service operations and cross-department collaboration.
