Bar Worker — Ashfield Bowling Club (Inner West Sydney)

Location: Ashfield, NSW
Employment Type: Casual
Pay: Per award and experience
Reports to: Venue Manager

Ashfield Bowling Club is a small but vibrant community hub in Sydney’s Inner West. We’re known for our friendly atmosphere, great value drinks, and lively social calendar. We’re looking for an energetic, customer-focused bar worker who enjoys being part of a close-knit team and making everyone feel at home.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service

  • Welcome members and guests with warmth and professionalism.

  • Serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages promptly and accurately.

  • Answer questions, offer recommendations, and promote membership benefits.

  • Encourage patrons to follow the club on social media for upcoming events and specials.

Bar Operations

  • Prepare and serve beer, wine, spirits, and basic cocktails.

  • Operate the POS system for cash and card payments, including poker machine payouts.

  • Keep the bar area clean, stocked, and well-organised.

  • Support busy functions and events with efficient, friendly service.

  • Report or address minor maintenance issues.

Compliance & Safety

  • Adhere to all RSA and RCG requirements.

  • Maintain a safe, enjoyable environment by monitoring patron behaviour.

  • Follow all health and hygiene standards in drink service and preparation.

Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with the licensee, manager, and team to ensure smooth daily operations.

  • Assist with setting up and packing down for events and functions.

Social Media Engagement

  • Promote the club’s social media channels to guests.

  • Help build excitement for upcoming promotions, raffles, and special events.

Qualifications & Skills

  • RSA and RCG certifications (required).

  • At least one year of bar or hospitality experience preferred.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Reliable, positive, and adaptable under pressure.

  • Flexible availability for evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

  • Must be available to work New Year’s Eve (NYE).
