JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a highly experienced Café Manager who is strong in leading and coaching a team, passionate about coffee and food and most of all, customer focused in all that they do

Leading and empowering our team, you will provide an exceptional customer experience and manage the team to do likewise.

You will be responsible for working with our head chef  and owner to in determining and managing the menu, subject to the season and customer preferences, management of front of house suppliers and ordering, daily expense and revenue management, most importantly - rostering and coaching the team.

The cafe operates 7 days week during summer and evening weekends - and you will be available to work during opening hours, including weekends and holidays.

Ultimately you will help the team to increase profitability by creating a welcoming and quality environment with high customer engagement and satisfaction ensuring our café is the local favourite.

Responsibilities:

Run the show - you are responsible for day to day operations of the café.

Role model, train, coach, roster and manage the team to deliver exceptional customer service and quality product.

Work with the head chef, managing supply to demand and ensure the café is equipped and effectively run to provide a consistently inviting and enjoyable customer experience.

Maintain turnover records, margin, profitability and reporting.

Ensure the café is spotless and meets the highest standards of hygiene while providing a welcoming and inviting environment.

Develop and nurture long term relationships with our customers and suppliers to boost loyalty and reputation.

Requirements:

Minimum 2 years’ experience as café manager OR suitable experience as venue manager / supervisor  within a 4 or 5 star property 

Excellent barista skills and professional knowledge of commercial coffee machines

Responsible Service of Alcohol accreditation (must be current)

Commercial acumen and good math skills

Ability to work weekends as evenings required

Exceptional communication skills and ability to develop lasting customer relationships

Strong team leadership and management skills to maintain and grow a highly motivated team who love what they do

Knowledge and/or interest in wines and pairing

The right to work full time in Australia

Understanding of Fair Work and Hospitality Awards

Desirable:

Exposure to fine dining and 4/5 star hospitality Food and Beverage operations would be a bonus

Your sales knowledge and ability to upsell to our customers without pressure
