The Venue
Nestled in the heart of Boonah, a charming rural town in Queensland’s Scenic Rim. The Commercial Hotel Boonah is a beautifully restored heritage pub and community favourite. Known for its warm hospitality and rich history, the hotel has been lovingly renovated by Ghanem Group and now includes an onsite brewery, vibrant beer garden, boutique accommodation, and a welcoming bistro serving elevated pub classics and local produce.

About the Roles
We’re seeking a range passionate and skilled chefs, CDP, Senior CDP, and Junior Sous Chef to join the kitchen team at Commercial Hotel Boonah. You’ll work in a dynamic, multi‑functional kitchen supporting everyday bistro service, brewery food service, and elevated pub fare. All roles report directly to the Sous Chef and Head Chef.
Key Responsibilities
• Set up your workstation/section with ingredients and equipment
• Prepare ingredients (chopping, peeling, cutting) ahead of service
• Cook and plate menu items according to Commercial Hotel standards
• Maintain quality, consistency, and presentation across all dishes
• Control food costs through portioning, waste minimisation, and stock checks
• Monitor ingredient quality and stock levels; notify the Head Chef of shortages
• Ensure correct storage and handling of food items
• Maintain cleanliness, organisation and compliance with health & safety regulations
• Adhere to kitchen policies and procedures, suggesting improvements where appropriate
• Mentor and manage junior staff in your area
• Perform additional duties as directed by the Head Chef
What We’re Looking For
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a kitchen of similar size and quality
• Solid knowledge of various cooking methods, tools, and procedures
• Excellent knife skills, work ethic and ability to perform under pressure
• Strong communicator and collaborative team player
• Understanding of food safety and sanitation standards • Leadership skills appropriate to level (Junior Sous/CDP/Senior CDP) • Certificate III and IV in Commercial Cookery
