The Venue
Le Bon Ton Melbourne brings the spirit of New Orleans to life in the heart of Collingwood. A lively American-inspired bar, smokehouse and cocktail hub, Le Bon Ton champions Southern-style barbecue flavours, pit-smoked meats, cocktails, craft beers and soulful rhythms in a stylish setting. The venue’s energetic atmosphere, unique cuisine and passionate team make it a favourite among locals and visitors alike.
About the Roles
We’re seeking passionate and skilled Chefs, Chefs de Partie (CDP), Senior CDP's, and Junior Sous Chef to join the kitchen team at Le Bon Ton. You’ll work in a dynamic, multi-functional kitchen supporting daily bistro and smokehouse service, elevated bar food offerings, events and private functions.
All roles report to the Sous Chef and Head Chef, and offer real opportunities to grow your craft in a vibrant, busy environment.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare ingredients (chopping, peeling, cutting) ahead of service
Set up and maintain your station with required ingredients and equipment
Cook and plate dishes to Le Bon Ton standards
Maintain consistency, quality and presentation across all menu items
Monitor stock levels and ingredient quality; notify Head Chef of shortages
Control food costs through portioning and waste minimisation
Ensure correct storage and food safety handling
Maintain cleanliness, organisation, and compliance with health & safety practices
Mentor and support junior kitchen staff where appropriate
Perform additional duties as directed by the Head Chef
What We’re Looking For
Minimum 2 years’ experience in a kitchen of similar size and calibre
Strong knowledge of cooking methods, tools, and procedures
Excellent knife skills with an ability to perform under pressure
Effective communicator and collaborative team player
Solid understanding of food safety and sanitation standards
Leadership skills relevant to the level (Junior Sous/CDP/Senior CDP)
Certificate III and IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent
