Jones Retail Group have a new position available at our IGA on Bloomfield store, working with over 300 cheeses in our Fromagerie. We are seeking a Cheese Enthusiast to work part time for approximately 20-25 hours per week. The successful applicant MUST love Cheese, know how to use and recommend it!

About the Role

Our Stores have become famous in the local community for delivering exceptional customer service and creating a first-class fresh food offer and we are currently seeking a Cheese Enthusiast to join the team. The IGA on Bloomfield Fromagerie has over 300 cheeses, as the Cheese Enthusiast you will be expected to provide customers with information on cheese types, recipe options and pairing suggestions.

Duties will involve all facets of cheese preparation and presentation in a retail supermarket environment. Including but not limited to;

• Stock ordering
• Receiving and storing cheese to maintain freshness
• Cut, wrap, price and merchandise cheese and associated products
• Maintain stock levels and pricing integrity in all specialty cheese locations
• Maintain a clean and sanitary work area
• Follow food safety and hygiene standards
• Assist customers with cheese selection and share product knowledge
• Initiate suggestive selling & sampling of products
• Provide exceptional Customer Service

The successful applicant will have a genuine interest in Cheese both in knowledge and consuming as well as demonstrating a high standard of customer service. Communication skills are essential for this position, as well as the ability to work well in a fast paced environment.

Skills and Experience

• Experience in a FRESH FOOD RETAIL environment
• Knowledge of and passion for cheese and associated products
• Ability to continuously learn and represent effectively to customers new cheese types, recipe options and paring suggestions
• Highly organized and able to adapt quickly to changing priorities
• Self- motivated to succeed, meet deadlines and follow through on tasks
• Strong attention to detail for accuracy in all facets of the position
• Basic knife skills
• Ability to multi-task especially during busy periods
• Ability to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays
• Be physically fit and willing to work in a cool environment
• Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time
