Fortuna drink and eat is a traditional Italian Restaurant in the heart of Darlinghurst. Our all-day Italian Eatery is looking for a skilled Chef to join our growing team !

This position will require you to:

• Plan and brainstorm new dishes for our menus (and authentic recipes);
• Place orders on ingredients and a range of food products;
• Prepare food and cooking food;
• Plate up dishes;
• Utilise various cooking methods and cooking utensils;
• Monitor the quality of food products and dishes at all times
• Advise and train other chefs on cooking procedures;
• Carry out and explain safe hygiene practices
• Freeze, preserve and carry out various methods of food preservation techniques in particular, Italian cooking styles

You will report to and work closely with the restaurant’s Head Chef.

The right candidate;

• Diploma plus 2 years experience or 3 years of work full-time work experience, if no formal qualification
• 2 years full-time experience in the last 5 years or at least 3 years of work full-time work experience if no formal qualification
• At least 2 years relevant work experience as a Chef in a Kitchen setting is preferred;
• Enthusiastic and has a passion for traditional Italian dining;
• Proficiency in English Speaking;
• Ability to work under pressure in a busy and fast paced kitchen;
• Practice safe and proper hygiene;
