JOB DESCRIPTION

Now operated by The Sydney Collective, we're seeking experienced Chefs to join the culinary team!  

THE OPPORTUNITY
The Sir George, built in 1845. is a beautifully historic, heritage-style venue that is an iconic road trip pitstop for travellers along the Sydney-Melbourne and Canberra-Wagga transit routes.  This restored gem is an old-fashioned Aussie pub meets modern gastro-style dining, creating a warm and relaxed space. The stunning landscapes and grounds offer boutique accommodation, alfresco dining, artisan bakery, woodfires and chimney tea rooms, and is renowned for being the best place in town to eat or enjoy an afternoon wind down in town.

Local and seasonal is our food philosophy, whether it’s herbs grown in the kitchen garden or ‘Cooridoone’ lamb produced only minutes down the road, our menus are constantly evolving.  Our charcuterie and artisan breads are made in-house allowing our chefs to make your dining experience a truly memorable one.  Whether you’re a local, a frequent visitor for trade events and festivals, or a by-passer between cities, this one-of-a-kind attraction is a must-visit.


Reporting to Executive Head Chef, Iain Haywood, a Chef at The Sir George will be responsible for:

  • Maintain high level kitchen standards and quality
  • Assist in achieving consistent GP and wage results
  • Ensure that the Kitchen Minimum Standards (KMS) are being complied to
  • Assist in the efficient Kitchen operations
  • Wage management, stocktake and GP monitoring
