JOB DESCRIPTION

About the role:

Saiko Teppanyaki, Mad Asian Kitchen & Bar & Ari Thai Kitchen & Bar in the Kitchens @ Robina Town Centre is seeking Full Time/Casual Chefs/Cooks to join our team.

Our Chefs are responsible for providing dramatic food preparation with flair & theatre to our discerning guests in an authentic Japanese style. You are also responsible for smooth and efficient kitchen operations, ensuring highest quality meals are prepared to the highest food & general safety standards. You will surprise and delight our guests at every turn during their unique dining experience. 
 

You will:

  • Be available to work weekends, public holidays and split shifts for lunch and dinner service
  • Be an excellent and confident communicator
  • Enjoy working in a team environment
  • Be organised and have an eye for detail
  • Be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining a calm demeanour
  • Be dedicated to providing 5 star customer service with flair & showmanship
  • Take pride in personal presentation and hygiene

Dependant on experience, the salaries for each position are below:

Chefs: $72k-$75k
Cooks: $62k-$65k

Offering 30+ hours a week to the right applicants.

Experience preferred but not necessary as full training will be provided.

Please note: You should have a minimum up to 6 months previous experience in the above or similar roles.


REQUIREMENTS

Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of Asian cooking techniques preferred including sushi, sashimi and teppanyaki-style cooking philosophies and principles
  • Ability to prepare all mise en place including starches, vegetables, trimming and cutting of proteins
  • Demonstrated sushi/sashimi and teppanyaki-style making experience and knowledge essential
  • Experience working in all sections including teppan, sushi and hot kitchen essential
  • Demostrated postive and great enthusiasm to serve the customer when making Teppanyaki style show
  • You will possess a minimum Certificate III Commercial Cookery or trade equivalent
  • You will possess full legal working rights in Australia

Highly Desirable (Chefs):  

  • Japanese Cuisine experience  
  • Sushi and Sashimi skills and experience highly desirable (for sushi opportunity)
  • Experience as Teppanyaki Cook will be highly regarded ( for teppanyaki opportunity)
  • Possess excellent knife and cooking skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and enjoy interacting with customers 
  • Understanding of food safety standards and HACCP
  • Must be able to work a across a rotating roster including weekends and public holidays

Highly Desireable (Cooks):

  • Hands on Chef
  • Previous experience in a similar role preferred
  • Previous experience working in a fast-paced restaurant
  • Effectively manage a kitchen/section
  • Great team player able to effectively work with Chefs and Kitchen Hands
  • Excellent attention to detail, with a true commitment to quality
