Experienced Bistro Supervisor

JOB DESCRIPTION

Melton Country Club (MCC), part of the Essendon Football Club has a rare opportunity for an experienced customer-oriented Bistro/Functions Supervisor to work flexible part-time hours to assist with our busy bistro and functions trade.

About the role

Reporting to our Duty Manager’s and playing a key role in the team, you will work across the Club supporting all aspects of our Bistro and Functions trade.  Responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing bistro and function wait staff
  • Rostering of appropriate staff for both bistro and functions
  • Servicing of bistro and functions
  • Ordering of bistro supplies
  • Liaising with the function manager to ensure client needs are met
  • Setting and packing down of functions
  • Ensure customer satisfaction through promoting excellent service; respond to customer concerns tactfully and professionally.
  • Train new employees and provide ongoing training for all staff
  • Oversee health code compliance and sanitation standards

RECOMMENDED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

Food & Beverage Supervisor

Please note: You should have a minimum up to 2 years previous experience in the above or similar roles.


REQUIREMENTS

What we need from you 

  • Available to work upto 30 hours per week with availability to include nights and weekends
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • The ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Competent with Excel & MS Word software
  • Have excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to oversee and direct staff.
  • Constantly show initiative.
  • Strong management skills.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.

Key Selection Criteria:

  1. Proven experience in hospitality supervision, ideally in a bistro, pub, or club environment, with the ability to lead, motivate and support a small team during service.
  2. Excellent customer service skills with a strong focus on delivering a positive dining experience and handling customer feedback or complaints professionally.
  3. Sound knowledge of food and beverage service operations, including food safety, stock control, and cash handling procedures.
  4. Flexibility to work across a rotating roster, including nights, weekends and public holidays, with a reliable and hands-on approach to service and problem-solving.
