JOB DESCRIPTION

What we're looking for..

The RNA is seeking 50 experienced chefs and cooks for the upcoming Royal Queensland Show (Ekka). Successful candidates will help ensure service delivery and catering excellence for our valued clientele. We are looking for people who are customer and solution focused, able to work under pressure on multiple events across a variety of venues and play a hands-on role with all food preparation and execution of food service.

Successful applicants will begin at the beginning of August and will and run right through to the end of Ekka and have full availability. This is a great opportunity that will provide a range of hours with the view of ongoing casual work moving forward.

 

About us..

The Royal National Agricultural and Industrial Association of Queensland (RNA) owns and operates the historic Brisbane Showgrounds precinct, home to the iconic Royal Queensland Show and more than 300 events a year. The 22 hectare precinct, just 1.5kms from the CBD attracts a million visitors a year and is the state’s largest indoor / outdoor events space featuring the vibrant King Street dining precinct and the five star Royal International Convention Centre.

 

Key Responsibilities..

  • Enforcing strict health and hygiene standards in all food storage and preparation areas;
  • Coordinate and delegate duties to staff within designated section;
  • Monitor to ensure food quality, presentation and safety standards are adhered to;
  • Ability to work in a team and supervise your own section;
  • Ensure that all food preparation tasks assigned are carried out in a timely fashion;
  • Ability to troubleshoot any issues that arise within the designated section;
  • Display excellent time management skills and ability to work under pressure;
  • Have a flexible approach to adapting to guest requests;
  • Display a confident and creative cooking style with a strong emphasis on consistency and presentation;
  • Ability to liaise with internal and external customers in a professional and courteous manner;
  • HACCP/food safety plan experience and delivery

REQUIREMENTS

What the successful candidate will look like..

  • Minimum 2 years as a cook/ 1 year as a chef in restaurant, café, pub and commercial kitchen setting
  • HACCP knowledge essential
  • Ability to liaise with internal and external customers in a professional and courteous manner
  • Excellent in overall cooking skill base

Induction/onboarding required prior to starting role
