JOB DESCRIPTION

The Republica are looking for an experienced Food & Beverage Attendant!

 

Major goal: To provide a high standard of customer service to guarantee repeat business

and to maximise customer sales by selling.

Reports to: FOH Supervisor

 

Casual Position: approx 30-35hrs per week.

REQUIREMENTS

Key responsibilities:
 

Customer service - The F & B Attendant is responsible for:

  • adhering to the FOH presentation standards, service procedures and service times;
  • ensuring guests are met and greeted to a standard that will deliver a positive first impression;
  • ensuring guests needs and expectations are met;
  • delivering superior levels of service to ensure repeat business;
  • ensuring the dedication to the delivery of friendly, professional service;
  • ensuring all guests’ requests and questions are dealt with promptly and to the guests’ satisfaction;
  • ensuring that all guests are served in a timely fashion;
  • building ongoing rapport with regular guests to ensure repeat business;
  • monitoring the quality of food and beverages being delivered;
  • ensuring the responsible service of alcohol policies are adhered to;
  • ensuring that any customer complaints are handled professionally or are referred to the Supervisor on duty
  • accepting an active role as a sales person, not the passive role of the service provider;
  • practising suggestive selling and upselling at every appropriate opportunity;
  • making suggestions and providing ideas for improving product range, display merchandising, and other point of sale materials.
  • ensuring service standards are high enough to guarantee repeat business;
  • ensuring the customer average sale is maximised by using suggestive selling and up selling techniques at every appropriate opportunity;
  • ensuring service is fast so as to maximise table turning;
  • ensuring a thorough knowledge of wines/beverages, food and facilities being offered.

Quality control - The F &B Attendant is responsible for:

  • acting as the last quality controller in the chain between the business and the customers;
  • politely returning any food or beverage items to the kitchen or the bar if it is not up to standard (ie. presentation, portion, quality);
  • adhering to beverage service procedures and ensuring there is consistency in beverage presentation;
  • feeding back customer comments on food and beverage to the Supervisor on duty;
  • providing ideas as to how service or food/beverage quality can be improved.

FOH/Bar presentation and maintenance - The F & B Attendant is responsible for:

  • maintaining their personal presentation and being appropriately groomed;
  • performing FOH set-up and cleaning as per agreed procedures and standards;
  • reporting any necessary repairs or maintenance to the Supervisor on duty.

POS and revenue control - The F & B Attendant is responsible for:

  • ensuring customer orders are accurately entered into the point of sale system;
  • ensuring all items consumed by customers are accurately charged and paid for;
  • ensuring the correct prices are charged for purchases and accurate change given;
  • ensuring cash and credit card handling procedures are followed.

Productivity and morale - The F & B Attendant is responsible for:

  • contributing to high productivity and good staff morale;
  • seeking from the FOH Supervisor, what exactly is expected of them (job description), how to do it (training) and how they will be judged (performance appraisals);
  • working as part of a team to ensure that all tasks are completed in order of priority and within an allotted time frame;
  • responding to and treating colleagues with professional respect and courtesy;
  • being self-motivated, able to follow directions accurately and to work as an integral part of the team;
  • contributing new ideas which may improve guest services or departmental operations;
  • maintaining a clean and pleasant work environment;
  • responding to all customer enquiries in a professional and timely manner.

Occupational health & safety - The F & B Attendant is responsible for:

  • adhering to the occupational health and safety guidelines, as outlined in the induction manual and other policies;
  • reporting any potentially dangerous situations or practices to the Supervisor on duty.

Telephone handling - The F & B Attendant is responsible for:

  • ensuring the telephone is answered in a professional and efficient manner;
  • handling any customer enquiries in a professional and helpful manner;
  • ensuring any FOH bookings are taken according to procedure;
  • ensuring any messages for management, or anyone else, is passed on in a timely fashion.

Other - The F & B Attendant is responsible for:

  • any other duties as may reasonably be requested or required;
  • other duties that may be required as the position evolves.
