JOB DESCRIPTION

The Yorkshire Hotel, part of HRH Group have a permanent position available for a Head Receptionist / Reception Manager to join a well-established hotel group based in Harrogate, North Yorkshire. Inspired by its surroundings, the group runs the following establishments: three classic British hotels, three charming, characterful inns and one quintessentially British pub. Combining exemplary service with award-winning cuisine yet brimming with individual personality.

This role is an excellent opportunity for someone to join this beautiful hotel in the centre of Harrogate (a 5 minute walk from the train and bus station), a 81 bedded hotel where you will be responsible for the management of the reception team, take a leading role in the professional development of the reception team and ensure excellent service for all our guests.

More about the role and what we need from you:

  • To ensure that all accommodation enquiries are responded to and subsequently developed to achieve the maximum possible revenue.
  • Ensure that bedrooms are appropriately allocated to the majority of incoming clients at least two days prior to their arrival.
  • To pro-actively promote the hotel to new and existing clients.
  • To ensure disciplinary and grievance procedures are followed to the Hotel policy standards.
  • Make sure that all bookings / enquiries are taken in accordance with laid down procedures in order to gain the achieved budgeted revenue.
  • Handle any complaints / comments effectively and ensure the General / Duty Manager is updated.
  • Create the reception rotas with reference to the weekly business forecast.
  • Ensure awareness of all relevant details / issues from the previous or current reception shifts and the day's business (conference, corporate, groups etc) are passed to the relevant people.
  • Make sure all maintenance jobs identified are recorded and subsequently marked as completed with reference to communication from the Maintenance Manager.
  • Assume and maintain active front desk presence - ensuring both the levels of customer service provided and shift procedures completed are done to the highest standards.
  • Responsible for recruiting new Reception staff (as and when needed) who meet the requirements of the business.

Please note: You should have a minimum up to 1 year previous experience in the above or similar roles.


REQUIREMENTS

Education / Experience

  • Must have experience of managing a busy reception desk.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of Rezlynx is beneficial but not essential.
  • Willingness to be flexible with the working hours.
