JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a junior cook/experienced kitchen hand with a desire to work at our unique venue. 
del Rios Winery & Restaurant is a restaurant with a spanish cuisine where the family philosophy of great wine, food and friends comes together in a wonderful setting. Our current opening hours are Friday 5:30-9:30pm and Saturday & Sunday 11:30-5:00pm so you will be only working on weekends. We will be opening for Saturday evening service soon. 

As a Junior Cook/Kitchen hand you will be mostly responsible for assisting the chefs with food preparation, cleaning and maintenance. You will be working under the direction of our talented chefs so the ability to take direction and follow instructions is a must. The smooth running of the kitchen will depend on you!     

We’re looking for someone with...

  • Experience in a similar, high-volume role with repetitive tasks.
  • Previous experience in food preparation is a must.
  • Previous experience using a commercial dishwasher is advantageous.
  • Flexibility to work shifts on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (lunch and dinner), including public holidays and the festive season
    Shift hours: Friday dinner (3PM - 10:30PM) / Sat & Sunday lunch (8:30AM - 5:30PM) and soon Saturday dinner shifts (3PM - 10:30PM)

REQUIREMENTS

Responsibilities

  • Setting up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
  • Preparing ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.)
  • Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling etc.)
  • Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served
  • Keep all kitchen work surfaces (counters, sinks, stoves, walls) clean and sanitized
  • Sweep and mop floors at the beginning and ending of shifts
  • Keep the food and supply storage areas organized

Requirements

  • Proven experience as cook or as experienced kitchen hand
  • Experience in using cutting tools, cookware and bakeware
  • A fast learner with an interest in kitchen work
  • The ability to stand for long hours
  • Willingness to adhere to health and safety rules
  • Good organizational skills
  • The ability to work unsupervised in a busy environment
