Arc @ UNSW is building its roster of Kitchen Hand/Bistro Attendants. These roles can work across both venues of the Roundhouse and New Café at the Village Green in order to offer greater opportunity to work multiple hours. The Kitchen Hand/Bistro Attendants assist the Food & Beverage Department to prepare and deliver a high-quality standard of food product and service to customers.

About the Role
This is a hands-on role. The Kitchenhand/Bistro Attendants must be passionate about delivering food to a high standard, be willing to engage with customer queries and work well as part of a team. This role will be the backbone of the Food and Beverage team.
The Bistro attendant shifts will involve irregular hours, including many evenings and weekends, and considerable flexibility will be required.
Our new Café at the Village Green will primarily operate weekdays 7.30 - 3pm however this position may involve ad hoc evenings and weekend work based on bookings at the Village Green Precinct. Some flexibility will be required.
Arc @ UNSW is hiring multiple roles between 20 – 30 hours per week.
Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for experienced and passionate staff. We want someone who can hit the ground running and be able to think on their feet. You will have excellent people skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively within the team and beyond. You’ll be able to work independently as well as being able to follow direction and instruction. Previous experience in a similar kitchen role is essential.

KEY TASKS & ACCOUNTABILITIES
The main duties of this position include;
Serving and preparing food under food safety guidelines
Responsible as acting face of venue for front of house services
Assess customers’ needs and preferences and make recommendations;
Ensure kitchen equipment and appliances are cleaned and maintained.
Prepare a range of menu items in accordance with standard recipe cards.
Understand all menu recipe and dietary information (such as coeliac, gluten free, halal, dairy free, pescatarian and vegan & vegetarian) and can answer customer queries.
Please note: You should have a minimum up to 1 year previous experience in the above or similar roles.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
SELECTION CRITERIA
Previous experience in a similar food related role.
Strong customer service background.
Excellent communication skills.
Open to the variety of roles that this position entails.
Friendly, confident, and helpful personality.
Excellent team player with good problem-solving skills.
A comprehensive understanding of regulatory compliance across food and WHS along with the ability to apply these principles in the workplace.
