JOB DESCRIPTION

Exciting Opportunity: Join Us as Sommelier at One of our Restaurants a groundbreaking Steak Restaurant!

Are you passionate about providing exceptional hospitality in a culturally rich setting? We're thrilled to announce an opening for in house Sommelier position at our West End Restaurant. If you have a flair for service and a love for diverse culinary and Wine experiences, we want you on our team!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Present guests with wine lists, assist with their selections to ensure a proper food and wine match, and encourage them to experiment with new wines
  • Cater to guest wine needs throughout dinner service, including but not limited to wine tastings, pouring/refilling wine glasses, answering guests’ questions, and providing memorable guest service
  • Possess commanding knowledge of the wine list, a thorough understanding of the menu and how the two pair, all other beverages offered
  • Must have explicit knowledge of all alcoholic beverages offered at The Venue, specifically regarding all wines represented on the wine list
  • Must have explicit knowledge of all restaurant food menus and item preparation to develop a wine program that works synonymously with the culinary programs, specifically wine pairings for all menu items
  • Actively work on the floor selling wine to guests, guiding guests through the wine list, and making recommendations based on guest preferences and menu selections, while maintaining a professional approach regarding price sensitivity

RECOMMENDED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

Sommelier

Please note: You should have a minimum up to 1 year previous experience in the above or similar roles.


REQUIREMENTS

  • Qualifications:
     Experience as a Sommelier, Wine Steward/Stewardess or similar role
  • Ability to create tasteful food and wine pairings
  • Extensive knowledge of different wines and which regions produce each type
  • Knowledge of local vineyards and wineries
  • Understanding of the winemaking process
  • Good communication skills
  • Availability to work during opening hours, including weekends and holidays
  • Flexibility to travel occasionally to meet with wine producers and visit wine-tasting events
  • Certification as a Sommelier or degree in hospitality is a plus
  • Passion for Meat Cuisine and a willingness to learn about our menu.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
