JOB DESCRIPTION

In 2022 Vista Hospitality Group opened two new hotels in Brisbane CBD. The first to open was voco™ Brisbane City Centre which offers 194 guest rooms, 11 meetings rooms, 2 F&B outlets, a Fitness Centre & Rooftop Pool. Soon to follow was the Hotel Indigo Brisbane City Centre with 212-rooms and the incredible new Izakaya Publico Restaurant and Bar 1603. 

The new hotels are managed and operated by Vista Hospitality Group a new business within the Australasian hospitality sector, that offers a suite of resources and operational advantages, uniquely tailored for owners and partners.

What You'll Do 

At voco everyone's a host. If there’s one thing we know, it’s that a great host is at the heart of every great stay. And it might be stating the obvious, but at home or in a hotel, we think the trick to being a great host is understanding what your guests want and when they want it. Knowing when to add those little touches and small thoughtful gestures that make every stay special and when to take a step back. For this we need a passionate and experienced Sous Chef to join our creative culinary team, where you will have the opportunity to contribute and develop your professional culinary career.

  • Direct & manage food operation and collaborate with the executive chef.
  • Oversee and supervise kitchen and KST staff. 
  • Assist Executive chef for overall kitchen operation to achieve company goals.
  • Assist designing unique food menus as per hotel operation.
  • Assist with menu planning, inventory and management of supplies.
  • Plan and execute food production operation. 
  • Approach work with a cost effective and control measure mindset. 
  • Ensure food is of a high standard - both design and taste. 
  • Order food supplies for kitchen.
  • Keep stations clean and comply with food safety standards. 
  • Monitor and maintain kitchen equipment. 
  • Schedule and roster staff shifts as per business demand. 
  • Train new employees. 
  • Liaise with other departments in a professional manner.

REQUIREMENTS

What You Bring  

  • Previous experience in a similar role - knowledge of a la carte, buffet and banquet operation.
  • 5+ years' experience in hotel/restaurant kitchen operation.
  • High standards in relation to food safety. 
  • You have a passion for all things hospitality and love making genuine human connections.
  • Tech savvy - ability to learn and use new systems! 
  • You have a high energy level and a passion for achieving superior results.
  • You are detail oriented and able to effectively multitask with great communication skills.
  • You thrive under pressure and are flexible when adapting to new situations.
  • You take pride in personal presentation.
  • You have a passion to develop your hospitality career.
