We are a husband and wife team originally from Japan with an Auckland born son. 

​Since we started in our humble food truck in 2014 in West Harbour, our focus has always been to provide healthy, authentic Japanese food for the neighbourhood. We use local produce as much as we can and cook all our food and sauces from scratch. Our menu always has a home style focus and we spend many weeks perfecting every dish to make sure we keep our goal of healthy food.

We have always been very open with our story and why we do what we do. Regular customers know the great effort our team put into our food, our restaurant and we are always trying to perfect what we offer. Having takeaway or dine in options with more focus on healthier eating is important to Kiwis these days and they know when they come to Peko Peko either for a quick grab sushi box or for a Japanese beer and Katsu meals with a friend that they are going to get the same service and the same homestyle cooking.

We’re looking for experienced, dedicated, reliable and motivated individual with a desire to work within the industry.

You’ll be dealing with customers face to face so a friendly, warm, and welcoming character is a must!

• 1 year experience as a waiter in a similar environment
• Excellent food and wine knowledge, willing to learn Japanese food and culture
• A strong understanding of run of service in a busy restaurant/café
• Experience using POS systems
• An expert communicator – with customers and fellow staff
• Helping kitchen when needed 
• Applicants must be flexible and be available to work a variety of day/night and weekend shifts
