Reopening of Award-Winning Cocktail Bar “Eau-de-Vie”
Jan 05, 2023
After a sad closure during the whirlwind of 2020, Eau-de-Vie has lived up to its promise to return with its news of a reopening early this year! Reopened by the Speakeasy Group, Eau-de-Vie 2.0 will be located in the basement of a heritage building on George Street alongside a new restaurant “Sanderson”. Once 13th on the World's 50 Best Bars list, Eau-de-Vie will have an intimate, jazz-imbued atmosphere with the bar’s famously on-point service and world-beating cocktails.
Directors Sven Almenning and Greg Sanderson of Speakeasy Group will be bringing the new iteration of Eau-de-Vie, as well as a new accompanying restaurant, The Sanderson to the Brookfield Place development, reinvigorating the historic Beneficial House site at 285 George Street.
"Eau-de-Vie is like our first child, we just have so much love for it! We looked long and hard to secure the new location, but the wait will be worth it…We really do see Beneficial House becoming a destination that our guests can spend an entire evening within. Aperitif cocktails at Eau-de-Vie, upstairs to The Sanderson for an amazing dinner, and then back downstairs for a whisky nightcap." - Greg Sanderson, Director of Speakeasy Group.
With the return of their signature Whisky Room and private whisky lockers, Eau-de-Vie presents the perfect spot to sip on a delicious Old-Fashioned. The Speakeasy Group have taken out a ten-year tenancy on the 618-square metre space in Brookfield Place, where this new restaurant and cocktail bar "will bring an excellent addition to our food and beverage mix at Brookfield Place Sydney and will contribute significantly to activating the precinct's nightlife," said Brookfield Properties Australia's Executive Vice President and Co-Head Danny Polijak.
