Sydney WorldPride 2023

Feb 06, 2023

Sydney WorldPride 2023

Get ready for a MEGA Mardi Gras this year, with Sydney being the official holder of WorldPride from February 17 - March 5 2023. The global pride festival is heading Down Under for the first time — making its debut in the southern hemisphere, in fact!

If you’re not sure how to celebrate, well there’s a dazzling list of 300-plus events throughout the 3 weeks, but we have helped out by picking our top choices below. Plus some of our fav venues to hit up before, during or after all the festivities! You can always look back to our events page for the details on all our favourite picks for WorldPride.

Week 1 🌈
Kicking things off officially in true mardi gras style with Fair Day on Sunday 19 Feb (a personal favourite of ours!). Take your dog, bring your Nan and your neighbour - everyone is invited to the all-day rainbow extravaganza in Victoria Park, Camperdown.

From Friday 24 Feb - Sun 5 March, the home to the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade Oxford Street and the surrounding areas will be closed off as a fabulous (and free!) festival hub Pride Villages.

Week 2 🌈
Live and Proud: Sydney World Pride Opening Party will take place on Friday 24 February, with live performances from Kylie Minogue, Charli XCX , Jessica Mauboy and more.  Being held at The Domain, the official Opening Concert of WorldPride 2023 will also be broadcasted live on ABC TV to get the World Pride Party officially started!

The iconic Mardi Gras Parade is coming home! The world-renowned Parade returns to Oxford Street in celebration of Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras’ 45th anniversary and World Pride on Saturday 25 February and will not be one to miss!

Week 3 🌈

One not to miss will be the Pride March on Sunday 5 March morning! Be a part of history and march across the Sydney Harbour Bridge in support of global equality, celebrating all that has been achieved, and be conscious of the work still to be done.

As 17 days of Sydney WorldPride (sadly) come to an end, there's one last chance to dance the day away at the Official Closing Concert: Rainbow Republic. On Sunday 5 March celebrate with all the friends, young and old, that you have made throughout the last few weeks of festivities!

WorldPride's teen program MINUS18 are hosting heaps and heaps of events for teens around Sydney for the duration of WorldPride 2023, so don't miss a thing and keep an eye out here.

Plus 100’s of other venues will be holding their own World Pride events throughout the festival - for more info make sure to check out our events page here for all the fun happenings from our favourite venues.

Want to make some extra money instead? This is the perfect chance to pick up a hospitality job. There will be loads of venues – restaurants, kitchens and cafes, all looking for an extra pair of helping hands throughout the weeks. Make sure to set up your job preferences here to be the first to know about open roles here.
