How to celebrate 2022’s Old Fashioned Week

Oct 31, 2022

How to celebrate 2022’s Old Fashioned Week

Are you a cocktail or bourbon lover? Then your favourite time of year is upon us! The annual Woodford Reserve Old Fashioned Week is back for 2022. The generous 10-day week from November 5th to 14th bars and restaurants all over Australia will be celebrating the history and continued popularity of the Old Fashioned cocktail.

The perfect combination of a spirit, sweet, and bitter elements; the old-fashioned is arguably the most sublime of all whiskey cocktails. The pendennis club in louisville, kentucky is reputed to be its birthplace during the 1880s.

In celebration of Old Fashioned Week, Diageo Bar Academy has released the perfect Old-Fashioned Cocktail recipe with a how-to video!
Cocktail Ingredients:
Bulleit Bourbon, 45mL
Sugar, 1 cube
Angostura Bitter, 2-3 dashes
Soda Water, splash

Bar tools: Jigger

Preparation:
Muddle sugar, one orange slice (optional), angostura bitter and soda water in a old-fashioned glass
Add ice
Measure whiskey using a jigger, add and stir well
Garnish with orange peel and serve.
*Typically made with Bourbon, other whiskies can also make an excellent cocktail.
*1.6 standard drinks per serve.
